There really is nowhere quite like Morocco.
From the labyrinthine medinas of Marrakech to the vast silence of the Saharan dunes, Morocco is a country of extraordinary contrasts. There really is nowhere quite like it.
Small clips from our days in Morocco
Morocco was only our third girls trip, and I already knew I wanted it to feel like more than a city break. So we did Marrakech properly — riad life, a cooking class at La Maison Arabe where we learned to make tagines we have been attempting to recreate ever since, an evening at Jemaa el-Fnaa that involved snake charmers, belly dancers, and a level of crowd participation nobody had prepared us for. We visited the iconic Jardin Majorelle, where Yves Saint Laurent found his muse, and then got in two 4x4s and drove south over the Atlas Mountains. The drive alone was worth the trip: kasbahs crumbling into red rock, the Draa Valley unspooling below us, a stop at the cinematic ksar of Aït Benhaddou just in time for sunset. Then on to Erg Chigaga — two nights under canvas, all-inclusive and utterly unhurried. Camel rides at dusk, sandboarding down dunes, dancing around a campfire, three-course Moroccan dinners that somehow tasted better for being eaten in the middle of the Sahara, and sleeping under a sky so full of stars it barely seemed real. The drive back was nine hours of arguing over music choices and reliving every moment — we didn't stop talking the whole way.
